I like him very much! I'll ship him with Liam Howlett's character, who is a demon (And according to the canon, she fell from the moon)! Murdoc deserves better
I miss Humanz and the Now Now era. :-( i saw them touring during the now now tour and i live in that high! I know it was sort of a lore inconsistency but I was enjoying Murdoc softening up a bit during Humanz, and Ace stepping to fill in his role during the jail plot. I don't think Gorillaz has hit it off as hard as their initial return and I'm just not that into this current cult phase tbh. We need to go back to this ridiculous madness!
Gorillaz imo fell off when Cass Browne stopped writing for the characters/lore. It was kinda fun and okay to see the gang return in a more laid back and seemingly emotionally mature nature, but I have grievances with the lore up to that point because there was just a lot of buildup to, virtually, nothing - I mean this especially in the context of the Now Now and Murdoc’s arc in prison then. You may not know unless you were following them hardcore then, but the Murdoc chat logs and other promotional pieces of lore (even the establishment of 2D writing the music canonically for that album) built up so much that we may get a Plastic Beach/ROTO-caliber story arc and climax, but what we were left with was just sorta underwhelming jokes and a cheap resolution. Even the music hasn’t hit as hard as the PB era (not to say they haven’t made good songs since then, they certainly have. It’s just PB, Demon Days and even ST are considered some of the best albums of the century…)

It came out in the mid 2000’s, so yeah it’s pushing 20 years old - probably older than a lot of its new fans lol. I think people discovered this show more from social media discussing it and it’s finally getting the recognition it deserved.

this is kinda corny but i feel like murdoc is the prime example that nobody is born bad, and that hate is taught. he was abandoned and traumatized as a little boy, so it makes sense why he acts the way he does. he acts hard and tough so he doesn't get hurt again. but deep down, he is a sweetheart.

I love that although Murdoc has been a downright shitty and awful personnhe still doesnt want to be. Like he definitely was abusive to poor 2D in the past, but they've worked through it. I know theyre not together and I DO NOT SHIP IT, but now they feel like a old married couple. As in, they've spent years together and halfway give a shit about the other. Despite everything he's done, I do believe he's trying to put his best foot forward. Isn't that Desole is about?
